Woman slumps, dies after hearing son died in auto crash

A woman, Mrs Abuka, in Ajaka town in IgalaMela/Odolu LGA of Kogi State, has slumped and died after she got news of the death of her son, Christian Ugbede Abuka, in a car accident.

City & Crime learnt that the young man, who had just completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kwara State, was on his way back home last Saturday when the accident occurred.

The late Christian was said to have collected his NYSC discharge certificate on Thursday.

A source said, “His mother had been sick for some time. She was eagerly expecting him on Saturday having been informed of his coming on that day. But on hearing the news that her son was involved in an accident on his way home, she slumped.

“All efforts to revive her failed. She died in the process a few minutes later.

The elder brother of the deceased man, Joseph Abuka, confirmed the incident on his Facebook page thus: “It is a dark day in my family today. My younger brother, Christian Ugbede Abuka, was involved in a fatal accident on his way back from Kwara State. This resulted in his mother’s death. Nothing to say but to thank God.”
