The council Chairman of Guma, Caleb Aba, told our correspondent on Thursday via the telephone that the gunmen waylaid the woman in the Yelewata community about 5 am on Wednesday and opened fire on her, killing her instantly.
Aba said the woman had gone to a nearby bush to fetch firewood when the gunmen accosted her and shot her to death.
The chairman lamented that his council still witnesses various forms of attacks by the suspected herders such that a larger number of people in the area are living in the Internally Displaced Peoples’ (IDPs) camps.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Catherine Anene, could not be reached for comment.
