Woman selling drugs to criminal gangs in Lagos arrested

A 20-year-old drug peddler, Aminat Ajayi, said to be one of those behind the sale and redistribution of illicit drugs among criminal gangs in Lagos has been arrested.

The suspect was arrested by policemen from Ijora-Badia division while on her way to deliver 103 wraps of a brand of drug known as Colorado.

It was learnt that she was arrested around the White Sand area of Ijora known to be the stronghold of criminal gangs.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed her arrest on his official Twitter handle.

He said the suspect was arrested by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Badia Ijora and his team who acted on actionable intelligence.

He said the DPO and his men stormed the White Sand area of Ijora based on information that the suspect was on her to deliver certain quantity of illicit drugs.

“During the operation, the DPO and his men arrested one 20-year-old Aminat Ajayi with 103 wraps of ‘colorado.’ Investigation is ongoing.

“A reduction in drug use is directly proportional to a reduction in crime, and the police will not relent in their efforts,” he added.

Hundeyin further stated that efforts were being made to track down and arrest other members of the gang.

He said it was obvious that the woman was not operating alone.
