Woman remanded over attempted murder of co-wife

Rabiatu Lawan, a housewife, has been remanded by a Kano Shari’a court in Danbare for allegedly assaulting her co-wife with a stick and hurting her. 

She was charged with attempted murder after using a stick (Tabarya) on Nafisa Salisu, their husband’s second wife.

Earlier, their husband, Nura Garba, complained to the police that his first wife beat his second wife at 11 am and used a stick to plug her to the point where she became unconscious with blood all over her body.

She pleaded guilty after the prosecutor, Inspector Bashir Wada, read the allegations against her.

However, the judge, Mallam Munzali Idris Gwadabe ordered the remand of the defendant at correctional centre and adjourned the matter till February 16, 2023 for further hearing.
