Hauwa Umar Muhammad, a Jos resident, on Wednesday told an area court that she has agreed to refund the N40,000 dowry paid on her by her husband, Umar Zangina, as demanded by him before he will issue her divorce letter.
Hauwa earlier prayed the court to grant her divorce on the ground that her husband had not been able to provide food and shelter for the family.

The husband, through his counsel, I. H. Abdullahi, told the court that they were not able to settle the matter out of court as earlier advised by the court, and therefore that she should refund the dowry given to her.
The Judge, Ghazali Adam, asked the plaintiff if she agreed to refund the dowry, to which she gave a nod.
The judge, in his ruling, told the complainant that whenever she brought the money to the court, she would be issued a divorce letter.
