A woman, suspected to be a child trafficker, stole a two-year-old baby from his siblings after deceiving them with biscuits in Garam community of Tafa LGA in Niger State.
City & Crime learnt that the mother of the baby left him with his elder brothers when the incident happened.
A witness, Sanni Musa, said the woman, met the children playing with the victim close to their house.
He said the senior child, who the mother left the baby with, told them that the woman who was wearing a veil asked them where their mother went to.
Musa further said, “The innocent children told her that their mum had gone to buy something.
“At that point, the woman collected the child from them and gave them some money to go and buy biscuits for the crying baby.
“But before the children returned, the woman left with the baby and all efforts to trace her so far have proven abortive.’’
City & Crime also learnt that few days after the incident, another baby was declared missing in the community.
A resident of the community, Joseph Danjuma, pleaded with the security operatives to intensify surveillance on the village.
Effort to get the reaction of the Niger State police spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, was unsuccessful.
