A 25-year-old Baba Aliyu of Lafiagi Dwafu village in Katcha LGA of Niger State has been reported killed by his wife, Fatima Dzuma.
Daily Trust gathered that the incident happened on Tuesday night after the couple had a misunderstanding.
One of the villagers who preferred anonymity told Metro that the wife hit her husband thrice with a pestle on his head when he was sleeping in the night.
“After killing him, Fatima tied the man in a mat, dragged him and dumped his body in a nearby bush. She said she killed him because she was no longer interested in the relationship but the husband didn’t want to quit,” she explained.
The spokesman for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident.
Abiodun said “On 31/12/2024 at about 6am, a suspected lifeless body of one Baba Aliyu 25yrs of Lafiagi Dzwafu village via Katcha was found in a nearby bush.
“Police operatives of Katcha Div. moved to the scene and preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’s wife, one Fatima Dzuma 27yrs, narrated that there was an altercation between them over the night and she was beaten by her husband.
“As a result, after a while, when the husband was asleep, she used a pestle to hit him on the head which led to his death. She later tied the deceased with clothes and rope and rolled the corpse to a nearby bush with a mat.”
The police spokesman said the corpse of the man was taken to Bida General Hospital for post-mortem while the suspect was taken into custody for further investigation.
