Woman gives birth to triplets in Kano

Dr Enobong Mpak, who took part in the caesarian session that led to delivery of the triplets, said a scanning exercise disclosed that Rukayya would be delivered of triplets, the revelation she told Pyramid Trust, prompted the medical resolution to deliver the babies through a caesarian session.

“It is advisable to deliver a woman under such situation by operating on her. The reason is to avoid complication. So when the scanning results revealed triplets, the right thing to do is to deliver her through such a way, though sometimes due process of giving birth could apply,” Enobong said.

The Cuban trained female doctor who is attached to the general hospital in her observance of the mandatory National Youth Service Corp scheme, said the pregnancy was old enough when they operated on the mother of the triplets, adding that the pregnancy period fell within the stipulated frame time for the delivery of triplets.

“The pregnancy was old enough, because, when the babies are above two, the delivery period is shorter, she is stable and she has been placed under medical supervision and will be discharged at the appropriate time,” The corp doctor, noted.

When Pyramid Trust visited the general hospital, Rukayya, surrounded by friends and well wishers, was all smiles. According to her, her marriage to Malam Mohammed is over ten years, noting that previously, she had four children. With the arrival of the triplets the number of her children now is seven.

Father of the newly born triplets, Malam Mohammed, praised God, stressings that the female triplets are a gift from his Creator, adding that. The development was beyond the making of mere mortals.

“Allahamdullilah, Allahamdullilah, Allahmdullilah, I am grateful to Almighty Allah, who made this possible, I will ever remain grateful to him, I am a nobody, but my Creator has been merciful to me, my first wife had twin last time and today am blessed with triplets, I will ever remain grateful for his goodness and kindness.”

He further noted that, “When I heard the news. I did not panic and had no reason to panic. Rather I was full of joy, it is a thing of joy and blessing.”

As at when going to press the weight of the babies could not be ascertained. Sources at the hospital informed this reporter that Gwarzo General Hospital has no weighing scale, our source who pleaded for anonymity  said, “ Honestly something is wrong somewhere. We have no scale to weigh babies after pregnant women are put to bed.”
