 A woman escaped lynching from an angry mob of youth in Kutunku II polling unit of Gwagwalada on Saturday after promising to give out money for them vote to one of the political parties.

The youth, interviewed by Daily Trust, said the woman assured to give them money after they cast their votes for one of the political parties, but they wanted her to pay them before casting their vote.

"She promised to give us money. But we want her to give us before we vote, because she would run away if we voted now," one of the irate youths told Daily Trust.

He said: "as you see now, if she doesn’t pay us I will not vote. As you can see now, my vote is for sale," he said.

Asked on the price of their votes, the youth, simultaneously mentioned different amount. One of them said "I spent four hours before I collected this card. Any amount I get, I will vote.

"If I didn’t get someone to buy my card, ‘na invalid be that’. I registered to have a form of identity (card) like in bank. But for voting, I must collect money."

None of the security personnel around was on hand to rescue the woman, as she was saved by some of her colleagues, after a prolonged pleading.
