A forty-three-year-old woman, Alabi Funke, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court for assault and theft.
Police prosecutor, Sgt. Obutu Apata, told the court on Monday that Funke and others at large on June 13, 2020, at about10 pm, at Isato Street, in Ado-Ekiti, conspired and assaulted one Ukuwubile Atinuke by beating her up, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, cap. C16 Vol.1, Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012.

The prosecutor also accused the defendant of stealing the sum of N40,000 from the complainant, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 383 and punishable under 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap C16 Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012.
The defendant pleaded not guilty but his counsel, Olawumi Olowolafe, urged the court to grant his client bail, promising that she would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abdulhamid Lawal, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter till December 12, 2020.
