Woman dies as building collapses in Ibadan

A middle-aged woman died on Sunday after she was trapped in a collapsed building at Onipasan area, behind Oluyoro Hospital, Ibadan.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gbenga Fadeyi, confirmed this to reporters in Ibadan on Sunday evening.

The storey building, which is a mud house, reportedly caved in unexpectedly and trapped the victim.

Eye witness told Daily Trust that it was only one person that was trapped, adding that it could not be immediately confirmed if there were others trapped under the rubbles.

As at the time of this report, an excavator belonging to North East Local Government has been moved to the site of the collapsed building.

The Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Security Matters, Mr Fatai Owoseni, assured the people that efforts were being made by the State Government and other security agents to rescue the victim trapped and to ensure that no life was lost.

As at the time of filing this report, sympathisers have thronged the area helping the security agents to look for possible survivors.
