City & Crime further learnt that a validation team for the ongoing palliative programme from the Yobe SEMA, which coincidentally met the woman on the road, tried to rescue her to the nearest health facility.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Goje Muhammad, said while effort was made to reach the health facility, some members of the team rushed to a nearby village to look for a traditional birth attendant (ngozoma), a razor blade and other first aid equipment.
While thanking female volunteers and the motorcyclist for doing the needful, the SEMA boss said both the mother and baby were in good condition.
