Woman collapses after losing N275,000 in FCT market

A female trader, Mrs Gladys Ibrahim, collapsed after she lost N275,000 at the Abaji Main Market in Abaji Area Council of the FCT on Thursday.

A witness, simply identified as Gambo, said the woman put her hands inside her hand bag in order to remove money to pay for some bags of melon she bought when she realised that the money was not there.

He said when the woman, who comes from Auchi in Edo State every five market days to buy large quantities of melon and groundnut, could not find the money, she collapsed.

Gambo further said that the incident caused apprehension in the market, and that some traders poured water on her before she was revived.

The spokeswoman of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, was yet to react on the incident.
