A pregnant woman, Amina Musa, who is standing trial in a murder case at a Kano State High Court, has been delivered of a baby while in detention at a correctional centre in the state.
At the resumed hearing on the case on Monday, her lawyer, Barrister Naziru Uba, pleaded with the court, presided over by Usman Na’Abba, to grant her bail because of her condition.
City & Crime reports that the suspect is standing trial on a count charge of murder.
The police arraigned her for allegedly killing her neighbour, Sa’adatu Muhammad (also married), some months ago.

She was alleged to have stoned the deceased following a fight that erupted between them at Darmanawa of Kumbotso LGA of Kano State.
At the resumed hearing, her lawyer prayed the court to grant her bail to get better medical attention.
The judge declined the request as the counsel to the state government was not at the sitting.
He ordered that the defendant should remain in prison until August 24 for the court to review the request.
The court also ordered that the husband of the deceased should attend the next court hearing.
