Woman arraigned for duping military officer N3m

A 42-year-old woman, Mrs Akinboboye Atinuke-Lovelyn, has been arraigned before a magistrates’ court in Wuse, Abuja, for duping a military officer the sum of N3 million through sale of land by presenting fake documents.

According to the prosecutor, Insp Ochada Barnabas, the accused sometime in December, 2020, dishonestly presented herself as the original allottee of a plot of land described as plot No C35 situated at Phase AA3 Layout, Kuje, Abuja, which she sold to Olayinka Lawal of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Public Relations Office, Military Pensions Board, using forged documents for a total sum of N3m.

Insp Barnabas said when the plaintiff commenced development on the plot, he was stopped by one Mazi Izu Nwanko who claimed to be the genuine owner of the land.

The prosecutor accused the defendant of criminal breach of trust, cheating and using as genuine a forged document contrary to Sections 312, 322 and 363 of the Penal Code.

When the charges were read to her, the accused pleaded not guilty, and her lawyer, Sunday Adewale, sought bail.

The Magistrate, Ekpenyong Iyang Okon, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to June 13.
