Woman arraigned for assaulting police officer

A 23-year-old woman, Timilehin Owoeye, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court for physically assaulting a police officer while discharging his lawful duty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Celeb Leramo, told the court yesterday that the defendant on December 12, at about 1pm in Ado-Ekiti unlawfully assaulted a police Inspector, Odeyemi Olarewaju, on official duty by slapping him thrice.

Counsel to the defendant, Olatunde Olayemi, urged the court to grant his client bail.

The magistrate, Saka Afunso, granted bail of N25,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned to January 10, 2023.
