Following the recent church attack at the St Francis Catholic Church in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State on the 5th of June, several Nigerian celebrities like, Davido, Wizkid, Mr macaroni, Toyin Abraham and many more have taken to their various social media platforms to react to the tragedy.

On Sunday, suspected terrorists attacked St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, during service.

The gunmen stormed the church, they shot many people in the leg, and others at different parts of the body as a result, it was reported that over 35 people died in the encounter.

While reacting to the tragedy, Nigerian music star Davido via his verified Twitter handle called on Nigerians to pray for the country.

He tweeted, “Jesus take control……. Pray for Nigeria RIP to all the lost souls #Prayforondo.”……..the music star further said: “So many different emotions, but mostly anger and absolute frustration. Sick to my stomach.”(sic)

Gunmen abduct Catholic priest in Kogi

His colleague, Wizkid also reacted to the incident. Probably finding it difficult to put his thoughts into words on his Instagram story, the Nigerian superstar singer simply posted these two emojis “πŸ’”πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬”.

Nigerian actress Toyin Abraham mourned the deceased by adding a black picture representing a black Sunday with the caption “BLACK SUNDAY”.

She further wrote on her verified Instagram page, “My heart goes out to the people of Owo, Ondo State and everyone affected in this tragic accident. May the souls of the departed rest in peace and may God give their loved ones the strength to carry on at these very sad times…….My heart is brokenπŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ™πŸ™πŸ˜­”

Skit maker Mr macaroni while airing his opinion on the development via his verified Twitter account wrote, “How can you just kill people like this ??? How???? Like their lives mean nothing!! What should happen to their families?? Their loved ones, friends, colleagues?? What has happened to the right of every citizen to life? There is no justification for this madness!!!!”

Afropop singer, Yemi Alade, an indigene of Ondo State shared her reaction to the tragic incident as she posted, “How, where, who, when, what do we do, who do we hold accountable for our security and safety. πŸ˜ͺπŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’” I just landed and I see this……I’m so heartbroken, this is my state. OH God PLEASE πŸ™πŸ˜₯ #owomassacre.”

Moreso, Nigerian singer and songwriter, Timi Dakolo, showed his concern about the sad incident on his Twitter account as he tweeted, “We can’t even recognize our country anymore. Nigeria looks like some strange land.

“Plagued with misfortune. God help us. A country so blessed yet so low in everything. See how she keeps taking and taking from her people. And not giving anything in return. God, please heal our land.”

As for Mavin boss and legendary beatmaker, Don Jazzy, while sympathising with the victims of the tragic incident, he noted that the occurrence was a crime against humanity.

He stated, “My heart goes out to the relatives and friends of victims of the gruesome killings in Owo, Ondo state today. This is a crime against humanity which shouldn’t be tolerated in any civil society. To paraphrase Senator Adeyeye’s words in the red chamber a few years ago”.

Nigerian rapper and social crusader, Folarin Falan fondly known as Falz also made a comment on the incident as he said, “So many different emotions, but mostly anger and absolute frustration. Sick to my stomach πŸ’””.

Nigerian singer and songwriter Darey Art Alade simply asked the gunmen a question on his Twitter account. “How does your soul rest in peace when you’re murdered so gruesomely in cold blood, in church, on a Sunday? How??#PrayforOndo #PrayforOwo,” the sonorous singer queried.

Fondly referred to as Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa, ace singer, Timaya via his Twitter account simply opined that everyone is unsafe in the country. “No one is safe no more πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬πŸ’”πŸ₯Ά,” Timaya simply tweeted.
