The Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) on Tuesday unveiled plans to boost education in the rural areas and underserved communities in the state.
Chairman of COWLSO and First Lady of Lagos State, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, while unveiling activities for the 21st National Women’s Conference scheduled to hold from October 26 to 28, disclosed that all proceeds realised from the conference would be channelled to school projects and procurement of learning equipment for students in rural areas, as well as those with special needs.

She said, “We will partner with the Ministry of Education to ensure that all proceeds from this conference will be channelled towards things that will help our children. We will also be looking at ensuring that children with special needs have the necessary equipment to learn.”
According to Mrs Sanwo-Olu, the hybrid conference themed: “Awake!”, is expected to be attended by about 7,000 participants physically and virtually.
It would be recalled that the theme for 2019 was: “Unlearn, Learn and Relearn: 21st Century Women’s T.H.E.M.E.S Perspectives/Approach”. while that of 2020 was: “Exploring the Possibilities in a New World”.
The First Lady of Nigeria, Dr (Mrs) Aisha Buhari, is expected to declare the conference open, while Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, is to grace the occasion as a special guest of honour at the opening ceremony.
Also, the Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, will serve as the special guest of honour at the closing ceremony of the conference.
