At the Union rally led by SSANIP National Secretary, Comrade Peter Jegede in the South West Zone, SSANIP listed other demands to include, approval of new scheme of service and establishment of National Commission for Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Colleges of Technology.

Others are; re-negotiation of 2009 agreement between the Federal Government and non acceptance of Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics and discrimination against HND holders.
According to Jegede, “Before 2009, the terminal level of salary in the polytechnics was CONTISS 14, but in 2009, the president Jonathan gave a presidential approval elongating the salary to CONTISS 15, to be implemented down the line.
“However, the supervisory agency- The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) came up with a modality and implemented it for those on CONTISS 12 and above, leaving out those on CONTISS 11 below, in disregard to the presidential approval.
“In December 2012, arising from our General Executive Council meeting, a 21-day ultimatum was given to government to see to the resolution of the issues beginning from December 3rd, 2012. This was followed with another seven-day notice. Government did not do anything about the notices or call the union for dialogue.
“The union, between 19th and 22 March, 2013 met in Ozoro, Delta State, where another 21-day notice was again given to government which terminated on April 16, 2013. All these while, there were no serious attempts made by the government in resolving the issue,” Jegede said.
