Witchcraft: ‘How we use ‘stone’ to cause accidents’

Weekly Trust gathered that two of the three boys, Samson and Esla, had allegedly confessed to their kinsmen during the attack that they had buried some stones under the Buka Sidi stream that cause accidents along the road at that point, with the snake leading the witchcraft operation. They claimed that they were working under the sponsorship of some highly-placed personalities, although they refused to name names.

The Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Richard Akogi, said he has not been briefed about the incident two Tuesdays ago, although community members said the case has been reported at the “B” Division of the state police command in Lafia.

Relatives of the kids – both below 13 years old — barred other people from having access to the village. They said it was a family affair that needed no intrusion from outsiders, although a passer-by had already reported the matter to the police.  Newsmen who visited the village could not get any details from community members, so they relied on commercial motorcycle riders who were washing their motorcycles at the time the boys were taken to remove the stones for sketchy comments.

The motorcycle riders’ account had it that villagers from the community thronged to the stream, leading the three kids whom they had suspected of witchcraft to show them what they used in the operation which has allegedly claimed several lives in motor accidents. A man who gave his name as Ishaya only told Weekly Trust that the suspected kid wizards narrated how they caused the deaths of their parents who were residing in Kano a few years ago. “After they had been brought back home by an aunt to break from the hardship that attended the orphanage, they decided to also kill her using witchcraft”, said Ishaya, adding that a close relative was about to die from a mysterious ailment which prompted inquiries that led to the discovery that the kids were the cause.

At the stream, the kids took out some stones which they claimed had been used to cause the accidents and deaths of relatives around the area. They further claimed that they were being guided by a snake and sponsored by some highly-placed personalities who benefitted from the blood they spill from the accidents.
