Two students have won this year’s best brain mathematics and Igbo quiz competition in Anambra State.
Uchendu Great of Union Secondary School, Okija, and Chibunna Ogbonna of Christ the Foundation Model Academy, Okija, are in junior secondary school.
Ten schools participated in the competition.
Uchendu (13) and in JSS 2 beat others to emerge the overall best in the math contest, while Ogbonna (13) took first position in the Igbo category.

Okafor Chigozie of His Grace Secondary School, Okija, and Chinewubeze Elochukwu of British Standard Secondary School, Okija, came second and third positions respectively in the Igbo language category.
For the mathematics category, Okolie Success of British Standard School, Okija, and Nzeka Ekpereamaka of Okija Grammar School came second and third respectively.
The winners got a one-year scholarship each and one-year BBC Ambassadorial Endorsement with stipends for upkeep, six months ICT training, billboard picture placement and online promotions.
Winners of both categories in the second position got two-term scholarships, exercise books and other writing materials.
In his comment, Uchendu, the overall winner, said the competition had exposed him to rigorous studies.
The winner in the Igbo category, Chibunna Ogbonna, said, “This is a dream come true. I never expected it, but to God be the Glory.”
The CEO of Best Brain Contest and Chairman, Akpoazaa Foundation, Frank Igbojindu, said the initiative was designed to encourage the youths to speak and learn the Igbo language, as well as to embrace Igbo culture.
