Speaking to Daily Trust, a resident of the town, Shehu Kamba said the incident occurred between 7 pm and 8 pm on Tuesday.
Kamba said though no life was reported to have been lost, most of the houses in the town had been damaged.
“In the Jekasa and Tudun Wada areas of the town, you hardly pass through three houses without having one that was affected by the disaster. Roofs of houses were blown off, building structures collapsed, while trees and pole wires were uprooted.
“However, there is no report of death apart from some few children that sustained injuries. The destruction suffered within the short period was enormous.”
The Chairman of Zuru LGA, Mohammed Kabir Abubakar, added that cars were also affected as the roofs wreckages fell on them.
Abubakar said Jekasa, Rafin Zuru and Sabon Garin Dabai areas were mostly hit by the disaster.
“For now, the statistics of the structures destroyed is not yet ready, but I can assure you that the destruction is enormous. It is on this premise that we are calling on the federal government and well-spirited individuals to come to the aid of the victims,” he added.
