Two persons lost their lives when windstorm swept five towns in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Daily Trust gathered that over 500 houses, including schools and churches, were destroyed by the windstorm.
The windstorm, which occurred at about 5pm on Sunday affected Sabongida, Tella, Takai, Tisol and Tella towns, all in Gassol Local Government Area.
Apart from structures destroyed, foodstuffs, animals and household items worth millions of Naira were also destroyed by the windstorm.
Most of the victims, according to Daily Trust finding, are now sleeping in the open as relief materials is yet to be provided for them.
One of the victims, Alhaji Muktar Ajuji Sabongida, told Daily Trust that all the houses in Sabongida were affected by the windstorm.
He said his school, house and that of his children were destroyed by the windstorm.
He said a woman was killed at Catholic Church in the town when her house collapsed on her. Another person also died in Takai, he added.
He said the destruction was the worse in recent years and appealed to Taraba state government to assist the victims.
