VIDEO: Willie Obiano ‘spotted in EFCC Custody’

A video of former Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State in  custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently trending online.

The anti-graft agency had arrested Obiano at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos shortly after he lost immunity.

The former governor, who spent eight years in power, was said to be heading to Houston, Texas in US, when he was picked up and later moved to Abuja.

In the video, Obiano, who wore a red short, was seen sipping water from a bottle while discussing with an unidentified man, who sat next to him.

Details of their conversation were not known as the video was not audible.

Daily Trust did not independently verify the video.

Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesman, had told Daily Trust that Obiano’s alleged offence was not disclosed after his arrest because it’s not time for the commission to do so.

He had said, “We are not giving that (the offence) out at the moment. The matter is still under investigation. It is also not correct that he has been released. He is with the commission.”

Uwujaren was evasive when asked when Obiano would be released, saying, “Once he is released, you will get the information.”

But there are reports that the EFCC quizzed the former governor over alleged misappropriation of N42 billion.

Hours before his arrest, his wife caught the headlines for a wrong reason. She had reportedly taunted the widow of Biafra warlord, Bianca Ojukwu, who in turn slapped her.

While Obiano was in detention, Bianca said she gave the former governor’s wife “a dirty slap” because she walked up to her under the influence of alcohol.
