International A ROCHA, a foundation concerned with biodiversity conservation and environmental safety worldwide, has warned that the world’s wildlife is being lost many times faster than natural extinction rate.
The non-governmental organization also said it was worried that increasing human activities may soon lead to the extinction of many non-human creatures, and could have severe consequences on the human world.
An official of the foundation, Mr. Chris Naylor, made the revelation at the just concluded 95th general church council of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
He condemned the inordinate traditional hunting and non-renewable energy use by African households because it is threatening human health, the environment and economic wellbeing.
According to him, A ROCHA International is involved in biodiversity campaigns in different countries around Africa in order to improve human health, economic growth and environmental safety.
In his remarks, the Vice President of COCIN, Rev. Dr. Orbed Dashan, said COCIN’s partnership with A ROCHA International is to fast-track the campaign against environmental degradation for sustained biodiversity.
