The special adviser on media and publicity to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Sir Opunabo Inko Tariah, yesterday resigned his appointment.  Tariah, who was appointed six months ago, did not give any reason for his resignation, but Government House sources said unfolding events in the seat of power indicated that his services were no longer needed in Wike’s administration.
Tariah’s resignation may not be unconnected with a recent press statement credited to him in which he alluded that the recent nullification of the Rivers State governorship election by the state election petition tribunal was ‘judicial terrorism.’
The statement which went viral in both print and online media did not go down well with Governor Wike who denied directing any of his aides to make such a comment on his behalf. The statement generated angry reactions from the judiciary as well as the APC-led federal government.
