The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, was in the news this week following his warning to governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over their interference in the affairs of the party in Rivers State.
Wike and his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, have been at loggerheads over the sole of the party in the state.
The PDP governors drew the anger of Wike for throwing their weights behind Governor Fubara.
Speaking after voting at the State Congress of Rivers PDP in Port Harcourt, Wike warned the PDP governors against interfering in Rivers politics, threatening to “put fire” in their states.

“Some governors say they will take the structure from us and give it to somebody. I hear that they have given them assurance that they will take the party from us. I pity those governors because I will put fire in their states. When God has given you peace, you say you don’t want peace. Whether you are in Bauchi or wherever, your hands will get burnt. You will never see peace again.”
The governors, in their reply, described Wike’s threats as “unbridled, irresponsible and unacceptable.”
Also, leader of the Ijaw nation, Chief Edwin Clark, has asked the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to arrest Wike, over his threat to set fire to states governed by members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party.
Meanwhile, the Disciplinary Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has summoned Wike over alleged anti-party activities.
Ibrahim Abdullahi, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, disclosed this on Monday during an interview. Abdullahi said the disciplinary committee had written Wike a letter inviting him to appear over his recent comments about the party.
