The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has said that a probe panel will be constituted to investigate the cause stampede that happened in Port Harcourt.
The Governor in a press statement issued in Port Harcourt by his Special Assistant on Media, Kevin Ebiri, expressed grief over the loss of lives in the unfortunate incident.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Rivers State, I pray for God to grant the bereaved families the fortitude to bear the loss of their loved ones.
“I also pray for the souls of all the faithful departed to rest in perfect peace. And to the injured, I wish them a speedy recovery,” the statement read.
About 31 persons lost their lives in the early hours of Saturday in a stampede during the distribution of gift items by a Port Harcourt based pentecostal church.
