Wike promises to complete Kuje-Gwagwalada road

The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has promised to fix some road networks in Kuje Area Council, especially the abandoned Kuje-Gwagwalada road.

Our correspondent reports that the 16.5 kilometres road, which was awarded in 2010, is being abandoned by successful FCT Administrations.

Wike while addressing Kuje residents at a security town hall meeting Saturday, said he would make sure the road was completed.

 He also listed others like Kuje- Robochi road, Pegi relocation roads, among others, that would be given prompt attentions, saying the abandoned projects can constitute to insecurity in the surrounding communities.

 The minister warned the six area council chairmen to stop running away from pressure and responsibilities in their areas.

He told the chairmen to empower and increase the logistics of the vigilantes and security officials in their domains, saying failure on their part in that direction is another security threat.

Earlier, the Kuje council chairman, Suleiman Sabo, had requested for the stoppage of illegal mining going on in the council, nothing that the illegal activity is constituting to the rate of crimes, especially, kidnapping.

The Gomo of Kuje, Alh Haruna Jibrin Tanko, pleaded for the establishment of either Army or MOPOL barracks along the villages where kidnappings are active.

He pledged the support of traditional institution and the people of the area council in the fight against insecurity.
