‘Wike played no role in Tinubu’s victory’

The Rivers State coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Grassroot Independent Campaign Council (GICC), Sir Augustine Wokocha, said Governor Nyesom Wike did not play any role in the victory of Ahmed Bola Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election in the state.

Sir Wokocha, who was reacting to a statement credited to the South-South coordinator of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Vanguard (BATV), Chief Tony Okocha, that Governor Wike was instrumental to Tinubu’s victory in the state on Friday, said Rivers people willingly voted for Tinubu in the presidential election.

He said it was wrong to attribute the victory of Tinubu to the Rivers State governor, saying that all stakeholders of Tinubu PCC contributed towards the victory.

“It is important, however, to state that the credit for the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC in Rivers State belongs to all Rivers persons who turned out to vote for the candidate of our party and the dynamic campaign structure that carried the massage for renewed hope to all the nooks and crannies of Rivers State and not an individual,” he said.

He, therefore, called on Rivers residents who are eligible to vote to turn en masse and vote for the candidate of their choice in the March 11 governorship election
