Wike chides council chairmen for abandoning monthly security meetings

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike has berated chairmen of the six area councils in the territory for failing to hold monthly security meeting because of funds

The minister, while speaking separately at town hall meetings to address insecurity in the Abuja Municipal Area Councils l and  Abaji Area Councils on Friday, warned that henceforth, any chairman who fails to hold such would be labelled a threat to security.

Charging the FCT residents to support security agencies in the fight against crimes and insecurity, Wike stressed that, “Ours is not to carry guns but give necessary information and they will make sure most of these things won’t be there again.”

He revealed that, within a week, his administration would provide security agencies with vehicles, motorcycles and other tools they need to work with.

Berating the politicisation of security issues, the minister frowned at unpatriotic comments on social media about security, saying that insecurity respects neither religion nor political affiliation.
