Wike cancels private schools approval

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, yesterday cancelled approvals for private schools in the state and directed fresh approval.

He said the applications for operational approval must be done by all schools within the next two weeks.

The governor spoke at a meeting with private school proprietors in Port Harcourt.

He said the governor’s office would review all the approvals and there would be no room for bribery and corruption. On revenue paid by schools, he said anyone who demands cash payment should be reported to security agencies via the designated phone lines.
