The Nigerian Legion of Ex-Servicemen has empowered at least 150 widows, aged people and children of fallen heroes in five states with various sums of money and food items.
The National Chairman of the Legion, Col. Micah Gayya (rtd), made presentation in Makurdi to the beneficiaries drawn from Benue, Nasarawa, Enugu, Kogi and Cross River states.
He said the programme was not limited to the Armed Forces Remembrance day as the legion will continue to give assistance to the aged, children and widows of their departed colleagues.
Speaking through the Director of Finance, Bureau of Internal Affairs and Special Services, Mrs. Iveren Terfa, the state governor Samuel Ortom lauded the association for empowering the aged, women and children as he implored the leadership of the organization to maintain the tempo.
