Widow drags two brothers of late husband to court over inheritance

A widow of  a  deceased lecturer at College of Education Zing, in Taraba State, Hajiya Lubabatu Umaru Gassol, has dragged her late husband‘s two brothers to an Upper Area Court in Jalingo for denying her access to his property. 

In a suit she filed, the widow, alleged that since her husband’s  demise seven years ago, his two brothers have been subjecting her and her five children to inhuman treatment. 

She urged the court to declare the purported takeover of the property by the two brothers as null and void.

Hajiya Lubabatu, also urged the court to order the defendants to remit to her all money collected so far as rent from the building belonging to her deceased husband. 

She also wants the court to allow her and her children take possession of the properties left behind by her husband. 

When the matter came up for mention on Wednesday, the defendants pleaded with the court, to allow them time to get a legal representative. 

The court, presided by Muhammad Abba Jibril,  granted the request and adjourned the case to November 3, for hearing.
