Women are the most marginalised members of our society. Many cultures in our society have in one way or another degraded women and often dismissed them as weak.
How our society views women has held us back from development. Many believe that women are the bedrock of the society, yet they are not given the proper attention and opportunity to provide support in nation building.
For women to be involved in nation building, they must acquire quality education. That way, they can improve the lives of people around them. Afterall, there is a saying that ‘when you educate a woman, you educate the society.
Women should be allowed to lead in both organisational and governmental roles. Many women out there have shown commitment and competence while in leadership roles and more of them should be encouraged to showcase their potentials. Most African countries appoint women to lead the finance and economy sector because they have proven to be perfect managers of resources.

Governments at all levels, international communities and other stakeholders must come together to support women in their day-to-day life. This will go a long way in bringing change in our society, especially through empowerment and equal distribution of opportunities.
