The President/Chief Executive Officer of Erisco Foods Limited, Chief Eric Umeofia, has said the company has not utilised 15% of its plant’s installed capacity due to lack of support by some MDAs.
He said Nigerians must patronise made-in-Nigeria goods to encourage indigenous manufacturers.
He spoke in Lagos in his speech during the end of the year party organised by the leading tomato paste manufacturer in Nigeria.
The firm also rewarded and recognised staff for their loyalty to the company, for a period of ten years and above.

Umeofia appreciated the collective efforts of all members of staff for their contributions towards the successes recorded by the company in the year 2023.
He said, “We were able to achieve a lot of success because of the incredible support given to us by all members of staff across all levels. As it’s our tradition, we celebrate and recognise the incredible role they continue to play.”
He listed the challenges to include lack of support and patronage from some MDAs and some Nigerians alike who prefer foreign products, irrespective of their quality.
The manufacturer added, “Unfortunately, these challenges have hindered Erisco Foods production capacity, as they are yet to utilise up to 15% of the plant’s installed capacity per annum, since inception till date, due to the frustrations by our MDAs, particularly our financial institutions, etc.”
The highlight of the event was the award and presentation of cheques ranging from N1m to deserving staff members who have been loyal to the company for 10 years and above.
