The National Commissioner, Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr. Vincent Olatunji says the Commission is taking steps to ensure that data protection is implemented across all sectors of government to boost investor confidence in Nigeria.
He stated this during a data protection training jointly organised by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) and the African Union-European Union Digital for Development Hub Project (AU-EU D4D Hub Project).

Daily Trust reports that in June 2023, the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signed into law, the Data Protection Act of 2023. The objective of the Act, among others, is to safeguard the fundamental rights and freedoms, as well as the interests of data subjects, as guaranteed under the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.
He added that “The training’s core objective is to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to collect, process, and store personal and confidential data securely and in full compliance with the law.
