The Federal University, Dutse (FUD) says the establishment of Remedial and Interim Joint Matriculation Programmes, Kano campus, is to cater for candidates from Jigawa, Kano, Katsina and neighbouring states.
The Registrar of the University, Mr Bukar Usman, who made the clarification in a statement in Dutse added that the move was also to ease accommodation problem.
“The attention of the Management of the institution has been drawn to complaints, from some quarters, over the establishment of FUD Remedial and IJMB Programmes, Kano campus.
“While the Management appreciates the concern, it wishes to state that, the campus is an outfit of FUD Consultancy Services which is independent of the main University programmes.
“The Consultancy Services decided to have the Kano Campus to cater for candidates coming from Kano, Katsina and other neighbouring states, in that axis, to ease accommodation problem,’’ he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the development has generated heated debate, particularly on social media, where the indigenes of states oppose the establishment of such campus in Kano. (NAN)
