The Local Government Congress Committee for the Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday announced results for 30 LGs and one Area Council Office.
It also explained why the parallel congress held by members of the party loyal to a former governor, Rauf Aregbesola, was not recognised.

The chairman of the committee, Gbenga Elegbeleye, said the exercise conducted by the committee met all the constitutional requirements and the party’s principles and guidelines and that no member of the party raised objection to consensus arrangement during the stakeholders meeting that preceded the exercise.
He said the congress of the party was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security operatives and that any other congress held by any member of the party in the state was illegal, null and void.
Elegbeleye said his committee was sent by the national secretariat of the party to conduct LG congress for Osun APC and not a group within the party and that those who claimed they held congress elsewhere cannot be recognised because they were not known to the party.
He maintained that the committee was not informed of any other congress except the one its members witnessed and supervised across the state.
