Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara State on Wednesday said the state of insecurity in the state would not allow for smooth conduct of local government election in the state hence, the decision to appoint sole administrators.
Matawalle, who spoke during the swearing-in of sole administrators for the 14 LGAs, said the tenure of the elected chairmen had since expired.
“You have been carefully selected to run the affairs of our local governments as sole administrators in recognition of your integrity, valuable services to your respective communities, and loyalty and support to our mission of building a new Zamfara State,” he said.
He said they had made it mandatory for all public office holders in the state to swear an oath disassociating themselves from banditry.
