Plateau State Police Command has explained why it arrested the Plateau State governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Ambassador Yohanna Margif.
The LP candidate was arrested on Friday by armed policemen.
A statement signed yesterday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Alabo Alfred, said the arrest followed a criminal report against him which was confirmed to be true, adding that the arrest was not politically motivated as is being spread on social media platforms.

“Amb. Margif was criminally reported against by his business associate, one E.C. Gajare, who alleged that Amb. Margif issued him a dud bank cheque over a business deal they had in recent time; hence the police invited the Amb. Margif to answer the allegation levied against him, which was confirmed to be true.
“The Plateau State Police Command wishes to set the record straight that the Nigeria Police is a non-partisan organisation that rigorously pursues criminal matters with vigour irrespective of who is involved,” the statement added.
