The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has said it decided to hold the 2018 edition of its Comptroller General Conference in Maiduguri, Borno State to show the world that peace had returned to the Northeast state.
The NIS Spokesman, Sunday James disclosed this in a pres release sent to Daily Trust on Monday.
He quoted the Comptroller General of Immigration (CGI) Mahammad Babandede as disclosing this at the opening ceremony of the conference in Maiduguri on Monday.
Babandede said the choice was deliberate “to make the world see that Borno is at peace and is safe for investment and destination visit contrary to speculations.”
He said the move will also help to boost the morale of the general duty officers posted to Borno State and the personnel attached to the Joint Task Force who have put their lives in line for the nation.
The conference, which started on Monday, will end on Wednesday November 14.
