The Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, was not at the turbaning ceremony of the Senate President, Ahmad Lawal, due to official assignment.
A special assistant to Wamakko on New Media, Bashar Abubakar told Daily Trust that the Senator was actively presiding over the budget defence of some committees of which he chaired or served as a member.

“You know all the committees are given ultimatum within which to submit their report for early passage of the 2022 budget,” he said
He noted that, although the Senator was not physically present at the ceremony he was adequately represented.
“He sent a powerful representation under the able leadership of the member representing Wamakko/Kware federal constituency, Ahmed Kalambaina.
“But those trying to give a different meaning to his absence were doing so to gain cheap political relevance but they would fail woefully because the duo holds each other in high esteem,” he said.
Lawal was installed as Gawunan Kabbi by the Emir of Argungu in Kebbi State last Saturday and the absence of Wamakko at the ceremony generated mixed comments with some people opining that it was a sign of a rift between the two.
Daily Trust learnt that Senator Wamakko was among the high profile personalities who paid a “thank you” visit to the Emir of Argungu after the appointment was made public.
