The FCT Water Board has explained that the ongoing rehabilitation work at the Lower Usuma Dam has led to the partial diversion of portable water from one area to another within the city centre.

The Acting Director of the Board, Dame Joy Okoro, made this known while fielding questions from our City News Editor in Abuja.

She said the diversion was to give room for a comprehensive repair work at the dam, adding that as soon as the repair is done, normalcy would be restored in every part of the city.

She said while area like Kubwa is having constant water supply, this is not so in Gwarinpa area and some parts of Wuye district because water is sometime diverted to allow the repair work.

The Acting Director also hinted that the FCT Administration had approved a special project called Abuja Water Supply Project that would ensure expansion of portable water to 33 districts and the area councils.

Dame Okoro listed areas to benefit from the project to include Gwarinpa, Utako, Jahi, Kado, Mabushi, Kabusa, Galadimawa among others.
