The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, says that his boss, Rochas Okorocha is after him because he refused to allow the governor to impoverish Imo with his anti-people policies.
“My only sin is that I said no to anti-people’s policy, my offence is that I stood for the people of Imo state in justice, equity and fair play. It was because of all this mistreatment to Ndi-Imo, after due consultations that I decided to run for the Governorship of Imo state,” Madumere said shortly after an Imo High Court nullified his impeachment by the State House of Assembly.
Madumere, who was full of praises for the judiciary, said that arm of government has proven that it remained the last hope of the common man.
He stressed that his battles against his boss “has been a battle against intimidation, threat, oppression”, adding that “but my trust in God, courage and justice prevailed.” He particularly lauded Chief Afe Babalola, (SAN) and Femi Falana, (SAN).
He said, “To the greatest Ndi-Imo, I love you all from the bottom of my heart, I will forever appreciate this love you have shown me. The people of Imo state said no to impunity, condemned all injustice levelled against me in unity.
“The bravery stood up to support me, not minding our political differences. My Good Lord will continue to fight for you, and men shall rise in your defence in the time of challenges.”
He saluted the courage of the three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in the House of Assembly, Hon. Mike Ihenatu, Hon. Bruno Ukaoha, Hon. Ken Agbim, who despite their political affiliation stood by him against all lawlessness and impunity.
The deputy governor also expressed his gratitude to the All Progressives Congress (APC) members in the assembly – Nnataraonye Ifeanyi, Uche Ogwuike, Chiji Collins, Nzeruo John Nkenna, and Donatus Onuigwe, who stood by him throughout his travails.
Madumere also showered encomiums on former Governor Ikedi Ohakim, and former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, for their supports.
