A judge of the Katsina State High Court, Justice Kabir Shuaibu, has identified inadequate court facilities and personnel as some of the challenges affecting effective justice delivery in Nigeria.
He also listed “poor remuneration and welfare package, ineptitude of most judges, corrupt practices by judges, and above all, political interference.”
The jurist, however, added that if all these factors are taken care of, there would be improvement in the country’s justice delivery system.
Justice Shuaibu who was on October 12 elevated to the state high court bench, expressed gratitude for the promotion.
The jurist attended Bayero University Kano between 1988 and 1992 and the Nigerian Law School between 1992 and 1993.
After his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Nkpolu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, he engaged in private practice in Katsina between 1994 and 1995 before he was appointed magistrate II in 1996.
He rose to become the Deputy Chief Registrar of the (Multi-Door Court) between 2013 and 2014.
He was also Deputy Chief Registrar (Admin and Supply) in 2014.
He was Deputy Chief Registrar (Litigation and Magistrate Affairs) from 25th August 2014 to 10th March 2016.
