The emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi ll Friday said late General Murtala Ramat Mohammad will continue to be remembered for a very long time because he was unjustly killed.

 

Emir Sanusi stated this while delivering a Juma’at sermon at the Late Murtala Ramat Mohammad Mosque as part of the 40th anniversary of the death of the late head of state.

 

Sanusi who led thousands of worshipers in the prayer, said: “This is the beauty of living a good legacy behind. Forty years after the demise of Murtala yet people remember him in their prayers. This is a sign of good leader.”

 

He said the people of Kano and indeed Nigerians will continue to remember the late Murtala Muhammad because of the contributions he offered to the country during his regain.

 

“Though his leadership was brief but he has impacted on the lives of Nigerians and he will continue to be remembered.”

 

He charged Nigerians especially leaders to emulate the late head of state in their leadership style, adding that “whoever does good will be rewarded with goodies.”

 

The emir also charged Muslims to be of good conduct in their dealings with others irrespective of their religious differences, saying every soul must account for its deeds.

 

The special prayer which was held around 1pm was organized by the family of late head of state through the Kano emirate council and was attended by thousands of Muslims.
