The convener of the Annual School Needs Exhibition (ASNE) Mrs. Emem Opashi has that the lack of infrastructure, qualified teachers and insecurity among others were largely responsible for the dwindling fortune of the nation’s education sector despite the intervention of private sector.

Opashi who is also the CEO of the School Resource Centre (SRC) Abuja said this yesterday in Abuja at the media briefing of the 8th annual ASNE education fair coming up in Abuja next week Wednesday and Thursday themed, “ Education without borders -Looking  at the Global Picture”.

She said the exhibition which maiden edition took place in 2009 was their own way of giving back to the society and nationhood.

“ASNE is a platform designed to connect relevant businesses to all educators and stakeholders in education. ASNR is about exposure, accessibility and convenience for all involved. It is also part of the reform to evolve policy that will bring out the best in the teachers to promote better learning among students at all levels,” she said

While saying that the private sector account for only 30 percent of the nation’s education sector while the rest is still public, she said this is still not enough to meet the education requirements of the nation and its growing population that deserved quality education in the dynamic world.

An official of the School Kit System (SKS), Mr Ope Kareem, said the exhibition is a one stop event for educationists and other stakeholders especially that international organisations are involved in this year’s event.
Opashi said ASNE has made meaningful impact in promoting education in some Northern states of Kano, Kaduna, Zamfara, Jigawa and Katsina among others.
