The United Nations Deputy Secretary General, Ms. Amina Mohammed has underscored the need for Nigeria to strengthen global peace efforts because conflicts are now trans-border.
Speaking when she paid a high-level visit to the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre (MLAILPKC), Jaji in Kaduna yesterday, the deputy secretary general said banditry and insecurity being faced in the country was not just a national one but regional.
She however stressed the need for women to be given leadership roles towards the attainment of global peace, saying, “Men just want to win wars but women want peace.”

The Commandant of the centre, Major General Awwal Fagge appealed for support from the UN in the area of training, infrastructure and reorganisation of the centre to meet UN standards.
He assured that the centre had continued to live up to its mandate of training quality peacekeepers to contribute its quotas to global peace support operations.
