South East Trust gathered that unidentified gunmen had shot dead the vigilante commander of Nkanu East Local Government Area, Mr. Christopher Ede at Akpawfu market square.
Report said that Ede was drinking with some friends at the market square when the armed men arrived on two motorcycles and started shooting sporadically.

The incident, which occurred in the broad day light, reportedly attracted police operatives who went to the place and made several arrest forcing natives to take to their heels.
Igwe Nnamoko said that his subjects could have left the community for fear of arrest, stressing “this is the situation we are in my brother.”
South East Trust learnt that Ede’s second-in-command identified as Cletus Nwanagu was said to have been taken away, although this could not be confirmed as at the time of this report.
Although the State police spokesman, ASP Daniel Ndukwe could not specify the exact number of those arrested, he said that investigation was ongoing.
